Inspirational Prayer
My brother in law recently went to the hospital with double pneumonia. He had three heart attacks the second night he was there. The doctors did not have much hope for him to live. He had to have bi-pass surgery to make it. We were all extremely upset. The night before Joe's surgery, I shut my bed room door, turned the light out and just set in the dark looking out across the patio. I said a couple of silent prayers and as I was sitting there this poem came to me. I hope it makes sense to you. To me it meant that God wanted Joe up and teaching again. It was not time for him to go Home.
A Prayer for Joe
Please one more time before I die
Just let me sit and watch the sky
Colors in blue, black, orange and gold
Only God could be so bold
And burst the sky with light so bright
Then hide the earth with the night
Quietness overtake my life
And let me rest from all the strife
Before You turn and go away
Please break the dawn, another day.
Answer
I can not give another day
It is only in your hands to stay
I gave you strength to control
The habits of life that I behold
As I watch the things you do
I should receive only thanks from you
Please understand that all this pain
Will help you with more strength to gain
In three days you will feel relief
As my Son did from all his grief
I gave the Doctor's on your earth
The knowledge for your re-birth
You have worked so very well
But there are other folks for you to tell
Your wisdom you must not hide
But teach to others with a pride
And thank the Lord for every day
That you are still able, to Pray.
During the worse part of Joe's sickness before the surgery, he told us about an angel who was floating above his bed. Peggy asked him what her name was and Joe said it is not a she it is a he. He still remembers it vividly. As you will see Joe's angel was sitting on his shoulder the next morning.
The following morning when they took the tubes out of Joe's main arteries the jugular vein began squirting blood. They could not stop it. Joe shut his eyes then just seemed to go to sleep. The nurse said oh my gosh he is gone. He expired. There were no life signs for several seconds then he opened his eyes and was sent back to us. The Doctors did not think he had enough strength to go through the surgery but he could not make it another day with out it. Not only did they do three bi-passes but they had to rework his heart muscle also. They did not know if Joe would make it. On the third day he began to come around. It was tuff but Joe came through like a champ
Joe then got a staff infection that he could not get rid of. They even had to do another surgery and cut away scar tissue and as much of the infection as possible. It was bad for several weeks but God was not ready for Joe to come home. He gave him the strength to make it through the surgery and go back to work. Our family has been blessed.
Joe is a very well respected Methodist Minister. He has taught the Bible and preached for several years. He was the Minister of churches in several cities in Texas.
