Destiny.
There was once a famous coach who was the leader of a very well known and also a famous team. On a Saturday before a big game on Sunday the coach had to leave the team to drive home and bury his brother who died from brain cancer. The coach was very upset because he and his brother were close. There was a little fate involved in the Sunday game because the field where they were to play the next day was also the field where his brother had intercepted a pass in the last few minutes of a game and ran it for a touch down. His brothers team won the game. In his mind the coach could still see number 31 leading the pack and crossing the goal line.
Sunday came but the game was not what the coach wanted. They were tied 7-7 in the first quarter. It got worse each quarter until the last 4 minutes of the game. They were down 20 to 7 but the team never quit. Finally at the 3:05 mark , our quarter back threw a 31 yard touch down pass and made it 20 to 14. It was looking a little better. The game bounced back and forth. It began to look again as if they would lose. But all of a sudden the other team threw a pass directly to one of the line backers. It looked as if the quarter back meant to throw it to him. The man ran 46 yards for a touchdown. With the extra point the coaches team went ahead 21 to 20. The defense held and they won.
The coach was very quiet on the way back to Dallas. Every one new he was thinking of his brother. One of the news men came over and asked him if he was OK. He said yes I am. He then asked the news man "Did you see who intercepted the pass"? He told him certainly it was Roy Williams. Then Coach Parcells said "And do you know what number he wears"? The news man again said certainly he wears number 31.
